As always, we are pumped to wrap up 2014 with our signature Photo Annual issue of the mag. This particular Photo Annual is especially significant, though, since it’s the first one featuring our new layout, titling, paper quality, and format. The reception of these changes has been super positive, so thanks for all your feedback and continued support. Aside from providing an assortment of the best wake imagery from this past season, the Dec/Jan issue also highlights our Alliance Less Than 5 event and our newest Rider(s) of the Year: Shredtown. To compliment all this, we have Nick Taylor gracing the cover of the Photo Annual issue. Nick’s passion and originality has played a vital role in ensuring that wakeskating continues to evolve/progress. His Photo Annual cover shot, snapped by Garrett Cortese, is evidence that his dedication hasn’t gone unrecognized.

We are especially stoked on the diversity of the Photo Annual shots. With all the different riders, locations, photographers, disciplines, and perspectives, we’ve got you covered. Enjoy.

RIDER OF THE YEAR

For the past several years, Shredtown (Chris Abadie, Andrew Adams, and Davis Griffin) has been turning heads as a result of their relentless creativity. This creativity culminated with the production of the crew’s first feature film, Drop the Gun, which dropped earlier this season. Drop the Gun will likely be recognized as one of our sport’s premier film projects for years to come because it challenges riders to think differently about the sport and its progression. It’s that sort of impact that keeps our sport fresh, evolving, and fun to document. That’s a Rider of the Year type impact.

ALLIANCE LESS THAN 5

15.1_LT5_640x360

In just three years, the Alliance Less Than 5 (LT5) event has become the most legit freeride-inspired event in the industry. Due to extensive support from MasterCraft, what started as a fun freeride “contest” with a handful of select riders is now an exclusive event many of today’s top pros want to be a part of. LT5 focuses on the following elements: individuality, originality, amplitude, and style. In other words, riders are rewarded for booted toe back 3’s instead of KGB’s and methods instead of whirly 5’s; this list could go on for quite some time. Take a look inside to find out what went down at this year’s LT5 event!
