O’NEILL CONTINUES HERTITAGE OF INNOVATION WITH THE RELEASE OF THE HYPERFREAK HYDRO “ NO TIE FLY” BOARDSHORT

[Irvine, CA, February 29, 2019] – As originators of the technical boardshort, O’Neill is proud to present the latest innovation in boardshort evolution: The Hyperfreak Hydro featuring the patent pending “No-Tie-Fly.” This brand new, fully secure closure system has never been done before, pushing the innovation boundary of design. Our brand roots are firmly anchored in progression, as the same spirit that drove Jack O’Neill to invent the wetsuit still pushes the company forward today.

The all-new, “No-Tie-Fly” closure system is engineered to maximize comfort in the water. Its hook and loop design replaces the traditional drawcord with a slim and secure velcro-like system. Spend less time worrying about your drawstring and more time having fun. O’Neill boardshort senior designer and creator of the No Tie Fly, Lorin Ely-McGregor quotes; “We are creating a boardshort that’s rash free, fully performs, and is very comfortable. The new “No-Tie-Fly” is like nothing ever seen before. It’s low profile with no bulk and totally secure. Drawcords are a thing of the past. This is what’s new…this is next.”

Multi-stretch paneling is engineered to flex in high wear areas for added durability and a greater range of motion. Fully welded construction paired with a laser-cut hem and no inseam keep you rash free and surfing longer. Other features like O’Neill Hyperdry Plus water repellency, a moisture-wicking Hyperflow waistband, and a holographic welded zipper pocket maximize comfort and extend boardshort life. More Security, No Distraction.

“The Hyperfreak Hydro is special because of the “No-Tie-Fly.” The first impression when I put them on is that they were perfect. I don’t think any trunk has changed the game as much as these have.”

-Jordy Smith – O’Neill athlete and professional WSL surfer

ABOUT O’NEILL:

O’Neill is the original American surf brand. Jack O’Neill opened the world’s first surf shop in 1952 out of a garage off the Great Highway, San Francisco. He started out shaping boards and selling wax, eventually experimenting with insulated surf vests to extend sessions in the frigid waters of Northern California. This thought process lead to the creation of the neoprene wetsuit, an invention of Jack’s that changed the surf world forever. The shop later moved to Santa Cruz and went full force into the wetsuit business. That same progressive spirit still drives the company forward today. We at O’Neill strive to innovate, evolve, and produce timeless products to benefit those who live the surf lifestyle.
