Texas Wake Series Finale

Last summer on a visit to Austin I started to see the potential that Texas had to offer the wakeboard scene.  Then again in the fall as the Collegiate Wake Series brought Empire Wake through the state for 2 weeks confirmed it.

I packed my bags and moved to Austin to start the Texas Wake Series. The series was 3 stops in Austin, Dallas, and Beaumont, to mirror the Atlas Wake Series of the Mid Atlantic. What I expected was far exceeded thanks to all the support we received in just the first season.

Our staff was excellent including Colton Geer, Jordan Coffey, John Marshall and Tyler Guest. They brought their friends to volunteer to make this series the best it could be, and did above and beyond anything asked.
The sponsors donated generously to each event, and local manufacturer Tige Boats stepped up to keep Texas belonging to Texas. In the end we couldn’t be more excited to be here and help this new scene grow to the level it always should have been.

There was no better way then to close the season with a trip to SETx in Beaumont. The lake is the best location in the South with glassy water, camping, sliders,  and all the amenities you would need for one wild weekend.
The riders started coming in Friday night to enjoy some night riding as we lit up the lake for double ups and passes.  Everyone got to hang out together for something rare and set the vibe for the rest of the weekend.
Saturday the contest began with 7 divisions pulled behind the loaded up Tige 24ve.  Riders from all over the state threw down while enjoying the DJ on the Red Bull Sugga and smell of the 2 Hawaiian pigs roasting in the smoker.

Thanks to Rusty, spectators got hats and sunglasses to rock as the sun came out.  Wet Sounds, Richter Audio of Houston, UGP, and Indo Board created a great raffle for everyone to win some gear. The grand prize was a $300 EQ from Wet Sounds!

When the contest was over, the day didn’t end. Nine riders got to wakesurf, others hit the sliders, and as the sun started to set the feast began! Jambalaya, Ranch Beans, Dirty Rice, and of course the Hawaiian Roasted pigs were catered free of charge to anyone in attendance thanks to Red Bull!

The celebration to a great year went on until 4 in the morning! Good food, great friends, awesome wakeboarding and SETx….there is no better way to end a season.

Big thanks to Tige Boats, Buywake.com, Rusty,  Smith Optics, UGP, Pro Tec Helmets, and all the people who made the Texas Wake Series possible.  Thanks for a great season and we can’t wait for next year!
