We got lucky, cause on the last day of our Quicksilver trip we ended up in Chicago and Chris Heavener’s new band The Great Sea Serpent was playing at the legendary Fire Side Bowl. Now, if you don’t know who Chris Heavener is – he used to write for Alliance, the Distortion section of the mag and the Music Reviews. Anyways, Chris moved to the windy city to finish up schooling and while there he joined a band with ex-members of Small Brown Bike and Keleton DMD. It’s hard to explain their sound, but they’ve got a Rock Folk thing with a sonic bang. Chris plays the guitar, tambourine and back-up vocals. The show wasn’t packed, but they sounded good. To hear more – go to their myspace page and search The Great Sea Serpent. Do it, you’ll scream with joy.
