WAKEBOARDING’S ELITE QUALIFY THROUGH AT THE 2019 MALIBU FACTORY SMOKY MOUNTAIN PRO PRESENTED BY ROCKSTAR ENERGY!

The third stop of the WWA Wakeboard World Series (WBWS) kicked off today at the Malibu Factory Smoky Mountain Pro presented by Rockstar Energy. Riders from around the world took to the waters of Watts Bar Lake absolutely firing behind the wake of Malibu’s M235 and looking for a chance to qualify into Saturday’s main event. 

This event will go down in history as the very first WBWS event to feature equal podium prize money and the women came to town with guns blazing looking for a spot on this year’s podium. Ronix rider, Jamie Lopina (USA) showed that she came here to win taking down heat one with a super poked out stalefish to open her run for a score of 80.00. Dallas Friday (USA) went big for the win in heat two throwing a wrapped KGB in her run for a score of 79.67.

The boys have already proven this season to be the most competitive and progressive to date, and today’s on water action held true with 10 riders making it out of the 22-man qualifying rounds and into Saturday’s main event. Malibu rider Massi Piffaretti (ITA) laid down some style behind the M235 with a 3 to 1 for a score of 81.33 in heat one. Heat four saw another Malibu rider take the top spot with Cobe France (AUS) throwing down a Moby Dick 540 for a score of 88.67. Heat five saw Rockstar athlete Tony Iacconi (AUS) going characteristically huge to win his heat scoring 87.33 with a mute skeezer 540, just ahead of Malibu’s Oli Derome (CDN) in second and also advancing on with a score of 82.67. The second day of the Malibu Factory Smoky Mountain Pro begins at 10:30 a.m. EST on Saturday, July 6th with FREE family fun for all ages. Come by boat or by land to cheer on your favorite riders at stop three of the WWA WBWS.
