The biggest bru of them all, Dieter Humpsch is a born-and-bred African animal when it comes to wakeskating (seriously, he’s from South Africa and he’s like 6’2” or something). Dieter has been one of everybody’s favorite wakeskaters for a while because his style is so smooth and effortless – he has an indy backside 180 most wakeboarders would kill for.
This year he stepped his game up even more with unbelievable riding on a variety of fronts. Whether it was behind the boat hitting double ups, dropping gaps with ease, a variety of insane flip trick lines on the PWC, launching off kickers at the cable, doing totally new and innovative lines on the Fox spine, or even something as simple as a giant layback carve like in the Photo Annual, Dieter killed it in 2011. Dieter killed it so hard he killed the term killing it. If that doesn’t make somebody “most improved” we don’t know what does.
