2016 USA WAKEBOARD COLLEGIATE NATIONALS HITS THE BEACH.

College wakeboard athletes from across the country will compete at the Flora Bama Lounge in Gulf Shores / Orange Beach, AL on September 14th through 17th.

In September most college students from across the country are struggling through new classes while dreaming about the weekend ahead of them that’s filled with football, beer, and parties. But some students will be dreaming about a championship that doesn’t need a computer to decide who will play for the national title. There certainly is no SEC bias in this sport, but there will be some strong southern vibes in the air when college wakeboarding heads to the vacation destination of the south! September 15th, will be the first of 3 days of USA Wakeboard’s Collegiate Nationals at the Flora Bama Lounge in Gulf Shores-Orange Beach, Alabama.

The top 16 schools include the likes of Arizona State, LSU, Michigan State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Utah and last year’s defending National Champions the Florida Gators. Teams competed at 5 regionals around the country over the last two semesters to get a chance to go to nationals and compete for the title. Each team will consist of their top four men’s riders, top two women’s riders, and their top wakeskater. There are quarterfinal, semifinal, and finals heats of four. All divisions are weighted the same but we are bringing back the added appeal for collegiate’s top riders. The top four college riders will earn a golden ticket of sorts to ride in the pro division with a cash prize. There are no NCAA regulations here; just plain, old fashion, who is the best rider here kind of competition.

Spectators are invited free of charge and people are welcome to watch the event from the beach next to Flora-Bama Ole River Bar. The kitchen and bar will be open and the entire course can be viewed from their balcony. Can’t make it to the site? Be sure to watch all the action on our livestream.

So go ahead and lock down your calendar for September 14th thru 17th to head to South Alabama for some fun in the sun and sand.
