1) State your name, age, hometown?
I’m Micah Harper, I’m 27 and I am from Gilmer, Texas. A small town of about five thousand in NE Texas. Home of the Gilmer Buckeyes and the East Texas Yamboree

2) What is wakesurfing to you?
Wakesurfing for me is my get away from the world. There is nothing more relaxing than hanging out with family and friends on the water and leaving the world and all your worries on land.

3) Are you in school?
I Finished school 7 years ago. I went to at school Texas State Technical College in Marshall, Texas. I’m a working man now. I’ve been at a large chemical plant in Longview, Texas as an Operational Mechanic for 7 years. Basically I pull on wrenches all day on large equipment.

4) As a rider what are you looking to improve as far as board design?
Well, I really like what Doomswell is doing. I love their boards. The pop and speed they have are crazy. They are the board masters. Anything I have ever asked for in a board they always deliver. So as far as design, I leave that to them.

5) Who are you looking up to in wakesurfing or who inspires you?
As far as looking up to some one in wakesurfing it’s no doubt, Chase Hazen. He’s just really smooth off the lip and his style and airs are insane. Now inspiration is another thing. That would be my Mom and Dad. They are both 56 and can do anything on the water. I just got them in to surfing this past year and they are hooked. There passion for just having fun and learning new things at an older age really inspire me just to keep living life to its fullest and enjoy every second of it.

6) What are some tricks you have developed or learned in 2013?
Me and my wife bought a boat at the end of 2012. So really 2013 was my first year to really sink my teeth into wakesurfing. Needless to say 2013 was awesome! I was able to get together with a guy from church (Nathan Irwin) and really start riding a lot and am still learning from him. He led me towards Brock and Bryan from Doomswell and I started progressing from there once I got on their boards. I would say I still have a long way to go as far as trick list are concerned. I do love just boosting out as big of airs as possible with grabs. I’m not the smallest guy, so that gets me goin. But as far as for me, if im better today than I was yesterday then im happy.

7) Do you have any rituals before you wakesurf?
Hmmmmm…..not really, I guess fill my ballast. In all seriousness I have found out that the older I get the more I need to stretch….. so I guess I would say stretching.

8) Who do you ride with?
My favorite person to ride with is my wife Emily, me and her have a great time when it is just us on the water.
I ride a lot with my Doomswell teammate Nathan Irwin, and some others Bill Smeltzer, John James, Brock and Bryan of Doomswell. And my other 2 favorites my Mom and Dad.

9) We know music influences riders. Do you have a certain taste of music you listen to when riding?
I love music and its always on in the boat. As far as taste, pretty much anything but Country music. Yes, I know i’m from Texas but, I cannot stand Country Music. But my favorite song right now is Wing$ by: Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. I really like his music

10) What’s 2014 to you and wakesurfing? What are ya plans, any shout outs?
2014 will be one to remember! 🙂 I plan on being on the water as much as possible and doing as many competitions as I can. I want to thank God before any one else, with out him I am nothing. I thank my sponsors Brock and Bryan at Doomswell for putting their boards under my feet, and David Field at Agenda Surf for making the best traction out there. Nathan Irwin for teaching me everything he knows and never passing up an opportunity to go ride. Last but not least my awesome wife Emily, best boat driver, best wife, and a big heart. Couldn’t ask for any one better.
