OWC is excited to announce it’s dates for the 9th annual Silder Spectacular!!! After last year’s huge number of competitors, we have set this year’s event to go down as a 3-stage event on the following dates: Saturday October 15, November 5 & 19! The first Saturday is for qualifying, the second is for LCQ (last chance qualifying) and semis and the third is for finals.
Like last year, we still stick with very similar rules & formats from the cable points chase competitions. We have 10 divisions: beginner, intermediate, advanced & pro wakeboard, begin/int. & pro wake skate, open kneeboard, begin/int. & adv./pro women’s and open wakeski. Entry fees will remain the same from all previous years: $40 for 1 division, $60 for if you want to sign-up for 2 divisions and $60 for pro wakeboard and pro wakeskate. With the 3-stage setup you always get to ride at least 2 out of the 3 stops: if you don’t make it through qualifying and go into LCQ, you still ride the second Saturday to try to fight your way back into the semis on that same day. Finals go down on the third and last Saturday.
The score breakdown is as follows: beginner wakeboard, begin/int. women’s & begin/int. wakeskate; 40% kickers, 40% rails, 10% surface tricks & 10% composition. Intermediate wakeboard, advanced wakeboard (air tricks) & adv./pro women’s; 35% kickers, 35% rails, 20% surface tricks/air tricks & 10% composition. Pro wakeskate & pro wakeboard; 30% kickers, 30% rails, 30% surface tricks/air tricks & 10% composition. The open kneeboard & wakeski divisions are 100% overalll run subjective.
The pro wakeboard, pro wakeskate, open wakeski & kneeboard divisions have no trick limitations. The remaining divisions have the following trick limitations:Beginner Wakeboard & begin/int. women’s; Kicker spins up to frontside 360 or HS backside 180, rails are up to the judges discrestion- no transfers or gaps, surface tricks up to ollie frontside 360 or HS backside 180. Intermediate wakeboard; Kicker spins up to frontside 540 or backside 360 & basic inverts and raileys- no blind or full twisting tricks, rails are up to judges discrestion, surface tricks up to ollie frontside 540 or HS backside 360. Advanced Wakeboard & adv./pro women’s: Kickers spins up to frontside 540s or backside 360, riders can throw one 720 or HS backside 540 in their normal run & up to blind landing tricks- these tricks are all OK, but all others are not allowed- Roll2Blind, Blind Judge, Front2Blind, S2Blind, Tant2Blind, Tootsie (Sbend, 90210 & Whirley are OK but no other full twisting inverts), rails are up to judges discretion, air tricks up to up to blind landing tricks- these tricks are all OK, but all others are not allowed- Roll2Blind, Blind Judge, Front2Blind, S2Blind, Tant2Blind, Tootsie (Sbend, 90210 & Whirley are OK but no other full twisting inverts). The format is the same as last year: each rider gets 2 turns of 1,5 laps. The rider’s run will begin when he or she leaves the dock and will continue until he or she falls or the carrier reaches tower one a second time. This means the rider gets a full lap and an extra pass on the first stretch. The rider must let go before tower one. We will go through the running order and then return to the first rider and go through the complete order a second time. After qualifiers we determine LCQ’s for the next Saturday. During LCQ’s riders only get one more 1,5 laps, this is all or nothing to fight your way back into the semis. The semis and finals have the same format of 2 turns of 1,5 laps PLUS wilcard tricks. If you do not fall on your second run you should hold on and do your wildcard trick, which is one trick anywhere in the course. Only do the single trick or the judges may score the wrong trick. If you fall on your second run return to the dock immediately and you will then get a third turn to perform your wildcard trick. The same trick will not be scored twice in the same run but can be repeated in the second run since the judges will be taking the best turn not a combination of the two. The wildcard trick will be added to the riders best turn. Wakeboard divisions get NO pickups, wakeskate divisions get ONE pickup.
