1)Name, age, stomping grounds/hometown?
Morgan Lohmeier 19, Austin, Texas.

2)Local lake, river, riding spot?
I ride on Lake Austin mostly and occasionally on Lake Travis here in Austin.

3)Who is in your crew?
I ride with some awesome local people around here. My good friend, Leigh, has a sick G23 that we go on as much as the weather permits… and 24/7 in the summer. The boarding scene around Lake Austin is huge and there’s tons of fun people to ride with.

4)What got you into wakesurfing or how did this happen?
I have been really into wakeboarding ever since I moved onto Lake Austin a couple years ago and a few of us were out on the lake one afternoon and someone pulled out a wakesurf board and told me to try it. I’ve always been a huge fan of surfing so the moment I got on a wakesurf and got to carve around without a rope, I was hooked.

5)Boat set up or boat you poach?
My dad owns an old nautique 210 but he keeps that thing to himself. 🙂 It rarely gets to be enjoyed or put to work. Like I said before, my friend Leigh has a fully loaded badass Nautique G23 that we ride behind! It’s definitely my favorite wave to surf.

6)Do you prefer toe side or heel side or back side or front side wake surfing?
I mean I normally ride regular stance, which would be toeside/frontside. But lately I’ve been doing a lot of heelside/backside riding and I’m really loving that. I don’t know why, but riding backside is a lot more fun & something about being kinda blind to the wave behind you makes it more exciting.

7)Any new tricks you are working on?
I haven’t gotten to ride much this winter. I’ve gotten rusty on spins and stuff. I’m working on getting everything back on lock before working on a bunch of new stuff for the coming season. Basically just enjoying the ride right now! 🙂

8)What are your plans in 2014?
I plan to ride and progress in wakesurfing, but more than that I hope to get other people stoked on the sport and I want to just have a blast riding and meeting awesome new people.

9)Women are really showing growth in sports. What gives!?
Girls kick ass.. duh! 🙂 Guys have always dominated all the board sports, well actually all sports ever pretty much. Now all of us girls are rising up with mad skills to show the boys up! It’s awesome. I’m excited to get more girls into the sport as well.

10)Does music play a role when you ride or are ya more of like quiet on the boat!?
Music is a total mood-setter for sure. I love playing reggae music when I ride and my friends always play ghetto rap music. All music is fun on the lake. It definitely gets everyone pumped to go ride.

11)Are ya more of a tom boy or a girlie girl wakesurfer who rips?
I’ve definitely always been more of a tom boy for sure. I grew up in Arizona going off road and being super outdoorsy. Then when I moved here 6 years ago I got into longboarding, wakeboarding, surfing, and now wakesurfing. I’m more of a vans and jeans wearing type girl. You won’t find me out in a dress often at all, hahaha.

12)Where would you like to see womens wakesurfing go, turn or airs?
I’d just like to see the surf style live out. Which would honestly be just super sick and stylish carving, cut-backs, and airs for sure.. We have to live up that surfer-girl reputation.

13)Any shout outs or people you would like to thank?
Big thanks to Nick Scott who made my board and got me set up with Brigade from the start. He really helped me get a foot into the industry. Also huge thanks to my friend Leigh Fulkerson who takes me out hours on end to ride behind her boat, pushes me to do my best. Without her I’d be nowhere in the sport. Thank you to everyone who’s helped me out in the sport!
