World’s Best Wakeboarders Head to Bunbury
MEDIA RELEASE Announcing: THE WORLD’S BEST WAKEBOARDERS HEAD TO BUNBURY Event: Action Sports Games, Bunbury, Western Australia Event Dates: 3 and 4 March 2018 Location: Bunbury CBD Skate Park and Koombana Bay, Bunbury Western Australia Action Sports Games Bunbury is please to announce that six of the world’s best wakeboarders have registered to compete in the Bunbury Pro Wakeboard Tournament. The World Wake Association 2017 champion Michael Dowdy is signed up and ready to compete on the pristine waters of Koombana Bay, Bunbury Western Australia. “Dirty” Mike Dowdy hails from Louisville, Kentucky USA and has an impressive list of results that saw him take the WWA world title in 2017. The WWA rated number two wakeboarder Cory Teunissen (Qld) is looking forward to getting back to Western Australia to defend his Action Sports Games title. It’ll be his first time riding on Koombana Bay and with his style and technique he will be one to watch. Former world champion Harley Clifford (Qld) won the IWWF World Cup Action Sports Games three times in a row and is no stranger to WA waters. Clifford knows the area and is definitely a major threat to all other top competitors. Other top wakeboarders’ coming are Noah Flegel #6 (USA) Tony Iacconi #5 (Aus) Nic Rappa #3 (Aus). With the world’s best set to be in Bunbury next week, there is a bunch of local boys ready to give them a run for their money. Young guns such as Aaron Gordan and Josh Quartermaine from the West Oz Wakeboarding Association will be putting it on line with some massive tricks and showing that the WA boys have what it takes to compete against the world’s best. Mike Hogarth from West OZ Wakeboarding said “the boys have been training hard and having that local knowledge will help them enormously” “We trialed the big Nautique G23 boat on the weekend and it put out a massive wake so it’ll make an exciting, action packed day of world class wakeboarding” Hogarth went on to say. Thanks to the support of Drug Aware, Healthway, The City of Bunbury and Tourism WA, the Action Sports Games is ready to put on a show, “its going to be an awesome weekend of multi Action Sports such as BMX, Skate and Scooter action all day Saturday, Freestyle Motocross and the Food Truck Fiesta on Saturday afternoon and evening, then Sunday we will see the best wakeboarders on planet competing for A$20,000 in cash” said event director Tim Thirsk.
